Since 1963, our country has insisted on sending medical teams to various parts of the world for many years. It has greatly improved our country’s international influence. Already sent to Africa, Asia, Latin America, Greater 76 countries and regions including Oceania sent 30,000 foreign aid medical teams to diagnose and treat patients.290 million people, of which Africa is an important dispatch area for my country’s foreign aid medical teams.
China has a strong public hospital system, which is part of the health system in China and Africa.A completely different difference. In decades of health assistance to Africa, these aid agencies have the system mainly connects with public hospitals in African countries.
Two forms: long-term foreign aid medical team and short-term foreign aid medical project.
Short-term foreign aid medical project
Thirty provinces and cities across the country are responsible for dispatching foreign aid medical teams. Each province is responsible for one or more recipient countries.
Guangdong Provincial Foreign Aid Medical Team
The foreign aid medical team has a diverse professional composition, with clinical departments such as internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics as the main ones, with both Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. Along with the dispatch of medical teams, China donates some medicines and medical equipment to recipient countries every year.

Short-term foreign aid medical innovation project
China-Ghana West African Heart Center Cooperation Project
It is the longest-running foreign aid medical innovation project with the largest investment in Guangdong Province. With the Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital as the implementation unit, and Ghana’s Kribu Teaching Hospital and Kumasi Teaching Hospital as the aid targets, it provides precise technical assistance to Ghanaian medical staff in cardiovascular specialties, and has trained cardiovascular doctors who can perform interventional treatments in Ghana. Specialist doctors and established a cardiovascular specialist team. Donations of medical equipment, congenital heart disease screening, pacemaker teams, training in recipient countries, training in China, etc.
China-Ghana maternal and child health project
It was officially launched in 2016 and is implemented by the Guangdong Maternal and Child Health Hospital, with counterpart assistance to the China-Canada Friendship Hospital (Ghana LEKMA Hospital). The project focuses on the construction of key specialties (obstetrics and gynecology, neonatology). The assistance methods include talent training, equipment donation, scientific research cooperation, cultural exchanges and other training. Ghanaian professional and technical backbones come to Guangdong to receive training and participate in remote technical guidance of gynecological laparoscopic surgery. After the recipient hospital completed laparoscopic myomectomy and returned to China, the China-Canada Friendship Hospital was established in the neonatal department. The neonatal mortality rate and infant mortality rate decreased.
